Lutino Indian Ringneck Parakeet
The Lutino Ringneck is a product of selective aviculture rather than a naturally occurring geographical subspecies. Over generations, breeders have developed different color mutations from the Rose-ringed Parakeet, creating birds that look very different from their wild green relatives.
Its yellow feathers are the most noticeable feature, but the eyes are equally important. Unlike a normal green Ringneck, which generally has dark eyes, a typical lutino has red or pinkish eyes. Adult males can also develop the characteristic neck markings associated with male Ringnecks.
In personality, this bird remains a typical Ringneck. It can be intelligent and entertaining, but it also needs patient handling. Some individuals enjoy learning words and tricks, while others are quieter and more reserved.
