Congo African Grey Parrot

The Congo African Grey is a parrot that rarely goes unnoticed, even in a room filled with other exotic birds. Its beautiful silver-grey feathers, striking red tail and intelligent expression make it one of the most recognizable parrots in aviculture. Originally from the tropical forests of Central and West Africa, this bird has adapted to life among dense vegetation, where it spends much of its time searching for fruits, seeds and other natural foods.

In my experience, what makes the Congo particularly interesting is not just its ability to imitate human speech but also its remarkable curiosity. These parrots observe their surroundings closely and can quickly become familiar with daily household routines. An adult generally measures around 33 cm and weighs approximately 400 grams. Although they are admired as companion birds, they need consistent attention, mental stimulation and responsible handling. Their long lifespan also means that bringing one home is a serious, long-term commitment.
